The Who's Tommy

November 25-29, 2009

After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother’s lover by his father following the Second World War, young Tommy is so traumatized that he loses his ability to speak or to care about life. As he grows he suffers abuse from sadistic relatives and neighbours.  As an adolescent, he’s discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball, and becomes such an expert at the game that he rises to the stature of an international superstar and inspires youth around the world.

The Who’s Tommy – is based on the The Who’s 1969 double rock opera album Tommy and is presented in Guelph with some of the best local musicians recreating the classic sound of The Who.

The Rock Opera Tommy, which was first performed by The Who in 1969, was originally conceived by Peter Townshend and Kit Lambert with contributions to the development by John Entwistle, Keith Moon and Roger Daltrey.
