West Side Story
November 24th - 28th, 2004
Everyone is familiar with this powerful adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Young lovers Maria and Tony are caught in a storm of racial intolerance, family traditions, and street-gang rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks against the back drop of New York City’s west side during the last days of summer, 1957. This classic tale of star-crossed lovers explores themes of tolerance and loyalty in a time and place not too far from our own. Music theater at its most compelling and compassionate, this show will enthrall audiences of all ages.
As an active company for more than forty years, we are acutely aware that there have been past productions which no longer reflect our values regarding cultural sensitivity and representation. This includes instances where roles that should have been performed by artists from the communities being represented were instead played by white performers.
As such, some photos from past productions will not be appearing on our website.
We sincerely apologize for any and all harm caused.
