Fall Show, 2025

Royal City Musical Productions (RCMPI) is accepting show proposals from directors for the 2025 fall production which we expect to perform in the River Run Centre Main Stage in late November 2025.

A presentation on best practices for proposals and interviews is available for reference.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is September 29th, 2024 at 11:59pm

Submissions are to be sent to:
ad@rcmpi.ca

RCMPI fall productions involve a large sized cast (50-65) and we typically mic performers. The Main Stage space is a versatile space, with a fair wing space and an active fly system.

More information about River Run Centre Main Stage for reference.

A list of our past shows is available on our website.

Directors are expected to submit, in writing, proposals for no more than two (2) shows, discussing at a minimum, the following items:
-Artistic vision (set, blocking, costumes, makeup, etc.)

-Artistic team (roles, names, experience, etc.)
RCMPI provides a production coordinator and will help fill in roles that are unfilled

-Orchestration
The Main Stage is a large stage, and also has an orchestra pit to accommodate a large orchestra (8-12 players).

-Cast requirements
      -Cast Size
      -Number of males vs. females
      -Named character breakdown
      -Dance requirements

-Special skill requirements

-Special Effects (eg – snow falling, pyrotechnics, etc.)

Directors will have an opportunity to elaborate on their vision during the interview process.

Budget estimates and interview questions will be provided to Directors as they contact us regarding proposing.

Directors will be interviewed by members of the Artistic Direction Committee in October 2024 (exact dates TBD). All proposed members of the directorial team should be present for the interview, though other team members can be beneficial to the presentation.

If you are planning to submit a proposal, please contact the Artistic Direction Committee so that we can answer your questions or check to confirm the availability of rights for the show. If rights for a submission are unavailable, we will contact that director and they will have the option to submit a different show.
Tips for proposing a show:

▪ You can find titles on the sites of Music Theatre International (MTI), Theatrical Rights Worldwide, Concord Theatricals among others.
▪ Contact the Artistic Direction Committee Chair early at ad@rcmpi.ca to ensure the rights are available and that the show is appropriate for RCMPI.
▪ While it is not necessary to have a complete team when pitching a show, it is strongly recommended.
▪ It is recommended that the entire team attend the interview to ensure the panel’s questions/concerns can be addressed fully.
▪ Paint a picture. Sell your vision. Use additional materials/resources such as pictures, models, videos, music, PowerPoint, etc. Show the panel that you have done your homework and are passionate about the project.
▪ Projections and/or rented sets/elements are possible if you can be creative with the budget.

Note: Effective for the 2025-2026 Season, RCMPI has moved away from its Honorarium policy, with goals of financial responsibility and equality while still focussing on appreciation and recognition. RCMPI is actively working on its appreciation and recognition practices and policy, however no role-based honoraria will be included in these productions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Artistic Direction Committee Chair at ad@rcmpi.ca.
